Financial Aid |
Paying for college can be stressful but with the right information and tools it can be an easy stress free task! First you must understand the three forms of financial aid: free money, borrowed money and earned money.
|
Borrowed Money:
|
Loans should be the last thing you should consider but if you need a loan educate yourself before accepting any loan!
Federal loans: Subsidized loans: You are not responsible for the interest accumulated while you are at least a half time student. Unsubsidized loans: You are responsible for the interest accumulated while you are at least a half time student |
Free money:
Grants and Scholarships
Grants and scholarships are free money! But finding them may seem impossible. Here is how to start...
Apply for FAFSA and find out if you're eligible for the Pell Grant. Then check out our scholarship catalog and apply to local and national scholarships |
Grant: based on your economic standing (most likely your parents income)
Scholarships: can be merit based (academically), based on extracurricular activities or other experiences/ involvement. |
Earned Money: Work Study
Work study eligibility is determined and applied for during the FAFSA process. This money is money you earn through a job on campus or near campus and is earned through out the semester. You should not count this as part of your aid award package since you cant apply it towards tuition directly.
